In a World Cup organized by an obscure militar goverment, the Argentineans had, for the second time, the opportunitie to became World Champions, and this time they capitalized it.
But it wasn't easy, a 1-0 defeat with Italy in the first round send them to the same group of Brazil in the second round. After beating Poland 2-0 and tie the South American classic with Brazil, Argentina had the obligation of defeating Peru with at least 4 goals of difference. It was 6-0 and they reached the final game.
In a vibrant match, the host team, pushed by the power of its top scorer Mario Kempes, defeated Holland 3-1 in extra time.
